Self Catering Holiday Accommodation - Vacation Rentals Northern Ireland

The Blessingbourne Apartments are ideal vacation rentals for an angling or fishing holiday in Northern Ireland. Ireland is a fisherman's paradise with game angling and coarse fishing enjoyed by locals and many visitors each year.

Upper and Lower Lough Erne play host to numerous fishing competitions each year with fishermen from all over the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe taking part. Whilst the lough is a mixed coarse and game fishery, game angling, in the main, takes place on the Lower Lough which is over 15 miles long with scattered islands and sheltered bays providing vast areas of shallow water and rocky shores. A limited number of Salmon run the lough but wild Brown Trout are the main quarry.

The River Erne around Enniskillen is divided into various sections such as Cornagrade, Sligo Road, Broadmeadow etc and has many purpose built jetties for coarse fishing. The depth and flow changes from peg to peg as the river meanders its way along. Large Pike, around the 20lb mark are regularly caught along with plenty of smaller fish to give a good days sport. Huge catches of Roach are caught during April and May but particulary in winter when the river is in flood. Comfortable bankside access is available in the stretches around Enniskillen's town centre with the River Erne match record of 226lbs of bream caught near Enniskillen Castle. The River Erne is renowned for its catches of specimen Pike, Bream, Roach, Perch and Rudd.

Lough Melvin is one of Ireland's most famous loughs which is home to three distinct species of trout - the Sonaghan, the Gillaroo and the Ferox. It also enjoys a run of spring Salmon and Grilse from May to July and wonderful trout fishing throughout the season.
