Winter scene at Lowrys’ ‘Rural Cottage of the Year’
This year’s “Rural Cottage of the Year” at Blessingbourne
Estate, near Fivemiletown, is pictured above this week in a wintry setting
as heavy frost gripped the country during the Christmas holidays.
The cottages are managed by Nicholas and Colleen Lowry who recently
celebrated their win at the launch of this year’s new brochure of
Rural Cottage Holidays held at St. Anne’s Court.
Situated in tranquil and beautiful surroundings, boasting an 18 -acre
fishing lake, countless woodland walks and a private tennis court, the
cottages and apartments are attractive for visitors. The cottages are
furnished with some local crafts ranging from handmade tables to toiletries
made from goat’s milk.
The grounds are well developed with attractive planting. Visitors can
hire out a boat on the lake for pike fishing all year round with day licences
available for £5.
Animals are also welcome.
Presenting the awards, Alan Clarke, Northern Ireland Tourist Board Chief
Executive said, “I am delighted to reward individual and group enterprises
flying the flag for tourism in the beauty spots of rural Northern Ireland
in what has been one of the most challenging years for tourism worldwide.
It is impressive to hear the excellent feedback from visitors to rural
cottages here, reinforcing the attention to quality standards so important
in this industry.” |
